Emily Claire's Birth Story
Sunday November 11th.. i woke up that morning ate fiber bar and just not in the mood to do anything but keep my butt in bed. my husband took the girls to church that morning and i stayed home. he got back home at about 12 and i started to feeling a bit uncomfortable so i just rested in the bed.. me and katelyn took a nap at around 3pm and thats when i started to feel more uncomfortable... so i was unable to get a good nap.. i woke up at about 5pm and thats when i felt the urge to use the bathroom real bad... and started to feel sharp pains in my adbomen.. every so often but i just ignored it cause i felt like it was more of constipation.. so i got into the bathtub and they were still coming but made me more relaxed to handle them. felt the urge to use the bathroom real bad again and was on the toilet till about 6pm. i send my husband to his brothers house about 6pm and told him i think this is just constipation so don't worry. then i called my mom and she told me to start timing them.. and i did an they were about 3-4mins apart.. again.. i just ignore it. so she called back again and said that i better call my husband home or i will wind up having my baby at home. so i went to make the girls some supper at about 6:30 and thats when they started to become more unbareable.. that not sitting, standing, or rocking my pelvis helped.. so i went to lay down and call my husband an told him "Hunnie its time.. Come home" and so he left then i felt the urge to use the bathroom again.. an well.. thats when my water broke and noticed that my water was green.. i immediately went into panic mode not knowing what the out come would be for Emily Claire. Then i felt the strong urge to push and well.. i jumped into the tub (no water was in the tub) so i wouldn't make such a mess. as i felt her coming down.. i knew i should call the Ambulance cause it was time.. after just 1 minute or 2 of being on the phone i delivered Emily Claire in all one push (which is probably why i had 4 tears) and i picked her up an she cryed. The Operator kept getting on my nerves by yelling at me to listen to when i was trying to get abbie to run and find a syringe to suction Emily's mouth out and get a blanket. Then the operator said i need to find something to tie off the umbilical cord and i told her well.. i will have to lay her down on the tub to get out.. and so she kept on about i needed to get out of the tub an find something to tie it off with. So i got out the tub and had to lay Emily down on the tub to get out. So running around the apartment trying to find something i bleed EVERYWHERE! by that time the paramedics had got there and put a something on the umbilical cord to cut it off properly. The girls were excited their baby sister was finally here and was telling them about her baby sisters name is Emily Claire. lol So they helped me and the girls out to ambulance. My husband had showed up around that same time. i delivered the placenta in the ambulance. The paramedics said i looked pretty calm for just having a baby. lol Well.. i wasn't in pain other than a burning sensation. So we got to the hospital and i immediately told them to check her to breathing distress cause of the meconuim in the sac which she turned out to be fine. They weighed Emily and she was 7lbs 5oz. They didn't tell me her length.
Over the course of 4days there..my husband and the girls stayed with me the first night in the hospital. My mom came to stay with me in the hospital and it was great cause i haven't seen her since August.. The night nurse i had was rude.. my husband caught her talking crap about me to another nurse in the hallway saying that i refused to feed my baby and such.. The nurses and lactation consultants were so very helpful with teaching me how to get Emily latched. Emily did have a problem that caused us to stay one more day.. that was she wasn't having the normal amount of pee diapers which once my Milk came in that wasn't a problem anymore. The first night there she getting cold so they kept her under the warmer for most the night
While in the hospital... we wind having to move into another apartment cause i bleed everywhere and my husband did everything he could to get the stains out but no luck.. so he wind having to move us into another apartment when i was in the hospital because it looked and smelled like someone was murdered in there. :/
So this whole pregnancy i was suppose to be seeing an Ob but she was on maternity leave the first part of me seeing them so i wind up just sticking with the Midwife. When i got to the hospital i finally met my OB for the first time and well.. she asked me what my baby girl's name was an i told her Emily Claire.. and she told me well.. my name is Emily Claire too.. i thought how neat is that! Her nickname is Eclair. :)
